Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in process drawings, sheet metal design, and weldment design. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and converting engineering drawings to internal shop/fabrication standards, supporting manufacturing and production teams. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical design drawings including part, assembly, and fabrication drawings.
• Create and modify process drawings as per project and manufacturing requirements.
• Design and develop sheet metal components (bends, flat patterns, laser-cut parts, etc.).
• Design and detail weldments and fabricated structures.
• Convert customer or legacy drawings to internal shop drafting and fabrication standards.
• Develop 2D and 3D CAD models for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Ensure drawings include proper GD&T, tolerances, material specifications, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Support engineering changes and drawing revisions as per ECN/ECR process.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and company procedures.

Requirements

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design principles.
• Weldment and fabrication design.
• Manufacturing processes (cutting, bending, welding, machining).
• Experience in preparing shop/fabrication drawings.
• Ability to interpret and apply internal drafting/shop standards.
• Basic understanding of GD&T and engineering tolerances.
• Experience with drawing conversion and standardization.
• Knowledge of BOM preparation and part numbering systems.
• Experience Requirements: 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and drafting, preferably in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial equipment environments.
• Soft Skills:

• Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
