This is a contract position for a Kafka expert based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The role is hybrid, with 24/7 shifts, and requires face-to-face interactions with the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of the Kafka-based streaming platform.
• Focus on platform operations, monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, and automation.
• Support and maintain streaming infrastructure rather than develop streaming applications.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and data teams to ensure platform stability and efficiency.
• Monitor platform health, throughput, consumer lag, and performance metrics.
• Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Respond to incidents and troubleshoot Kafka streaming issues.
• Participate in on-call support and major incident management.
• Define and track Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and configuration management.
• Support capacity planning and forecasting for platform growth.
• Maintain backup, failover, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Perform routine health checks of Kafka streaming applications.
• Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform reliability, resilience, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Kafka, Linux, and Unix systems and command-line operations.
• Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering and Apache Kafka Operations.
• Proficiency in Linux & Monitoring Tools.
• BTech degree.
