Job Title: Azure Application Support Engineer

Role Summary

Provide end-to-end operational support for applications hosted on Microsoft Azure. This role combines application support, enhancement, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining system health using Azure PaaS services. You?ll work closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless application performance and reliable cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Enhancement

• Design, develop, and enhance application components using Azure PaaS services such as:

  • Azure App Services

  • Azure Functions (C#)

  • API Management (APIM)

  • Terraform for infrastructure provisioning

• Implement updates, patches, performance improvements, and minor feature changes as required.

Cloud Operations & Maintenance

• Manage day-to-day operations for applications hosted on Azure.

• Monitor application performance, uptime, and reliability across all Azure PaaS components.

• Maintain configuration consistency across environments using version control and IaC (Infrastructure as Code).

• Ensure optimal resource usage, scaling rules, and cost controls.

Monitoring & Diagnostics

• Set up, configure, and use monitoring tools such as:

  • Azure Monitor

  • Application Insights

• Create and maintain alerts, dashboards, and health checks to proactively identify issues.

• Analyze logs, metrics, and traces to resolve performance bottlenecks.

CI/CD & Deployment

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions / GitHub Workflows.

• Automate build, test, and deployment processes for application releases.

• Ensure secure and compliant release management practices.

Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution

• Identify and troubleshoot production issues related to:

  • App Service performance

  • Function runtime errors

  • API failures

  • Configuration or deployment issues

• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex cloud and application-level problems.

• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term fixes.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with Azure PaaS (App Services, Azure Functions C#, APIM).

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of C# for Azure function development.

• Experience working with Terraform or any IaC tool.

• Skilled in cloud monitoring tools ? Azure Monitor, Application Insights.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

• Ability to analyze logs, metrics, and application behavior.

• Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Good understanding of REST APIs, authentication, and cloud networking basics.

Good to Have

• Exposure to Azure DevOps pipelines (optional alternative to GitHub Actions).

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes (AKS).

• Familiarity with scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash.

• Basic understanding of security practices (Managed Identity, App Registrations).

• Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases.
