BIM Engineer - MEP
The BIM Engineer - MEP is responsible for developing, coordinating, and integrating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire & life safety systems within BIM environments. This role involves creating detailed and coordinated 3D models to ensure efficient system routing, spatial optimization, and compliance with design and regulatory requirements. The candidate will play a key role in coordinating complex building services, particularly HVAC systems and fire protection systems, ensuring seamless integration with architectural and structural elements. This position requires a strong technical understanding of MEP systems, constructability considerations, and coordination workflows, contributing to high-quality BIM deliverables for projects such as data centers, commercial buildings, and infrastructure developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed BIM models for HVAC systems, electrical systems, and plumbing networks; model fire protection systems including sprinkler layouts and fire alarm systems.
- Coordinate duct routing, pipe sizing, equipment placement, and plant room layouts; ensure proper clearances and alignment with architectural and structural constraints.
- Integrate fire protection models, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards such as NFPA and local regulations.
- Perform clash detection using Navisworks to identify and resolve conflicts between MEP systems and other disciplines.
- Ensure all MEP models comply with BIM standards, project specifications, and relevant codes; maintain consistency in modeling practices and documentation.
- Conduct QA/QC checks on structural models and drawings to ensure error-free deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC; MEP coordination.
- Knowledge of standards such as AISC/BS, Eurocode, SBC.
- 3-5 years of experience in MEP BIM modeling and coordination.
- Experience with industrial, commercial, or data center projects and liquid cooling design/modeling is an added advantage.
- Strong coordination, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
