DevOps Engineer - Kubernetes
We are seeking a skilled and pragmatic DevOps Engineer to take ownership and evolve our infrastructure across the EMEIA region. This dual-horizon role involves maintaining our existing VM-based systems while leading a greenfield effort to design and build a managed environment for migration. A significant portion of our builds is produced rapidly using AI-assisted, structured development, necessitating an infrastructure that can keep pace with rapid deployment. We need someone who thrives in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment, can quickly adapt to change, and treats adaptability as a core part of the job.
The new managed environment will likely be based on Kubernetes (EKS), though the final architecture will be a collaborative team decision. You will help inform that decision and own the build-out, regardless of the chosen direction. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, developers, and analysts, acting as the infrastructure backbone for a team that moves quickly. This role also involves working directly with third-party vendors and collaborating with teams outside of EMEIA to align on standards, share solutions, and resolve cross-regional dependencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and build-out of a new managed container environment to replace existing VM-based infrastructure, likely using Kubernetes (EKS).
- Contribute to the environment selection decision by weighing trade-offs between managed solutions (Kubernetes) and more controlled alternatives (client-specific AWS).
- Own the migration of existing VM-based workloads onto the new platform, managing sequencing, risk, and continuity of service.
- Establish and maintain the standard workflow for deploying solutions: build locally ? containerize ? publish to Kubernetes ? configure connectivity to client internal system dependencies.
- Configure and maintain networking between Kubernetes and client?s internal systems, including Shield, Snowflake, Floodgate, and other platform dependencies.
- Own namespace and compute provisioning on the shared Kubernetes cluster, ensuring workloads are appropriately isolated and configured.
- Manage credentials, service accounts, and access controls across the full connectivity chain ? from container to downstream service.
- Act as the go-to expert on connectivity within client?s internal network topology.
Requirements
- Proven experience in DevOps practices and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of cloud environments, particularly AWS.
- Experience with containerization technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Degree in a relevant field.
